Josh Williams understands the American Dream because Josh Williams has lived the American Dream. Born and raised in inner-city Toledo, Josh dropped out of high school at age 18 as a result of homelessness. After getting back on his feet and securing a job at a railroad subcontractor, he fell 30 feet and was disabled for six years due to a serious back injury. Instead of giving up, Josh persevered.
When the government told him if he went to school, he’d lose his benefits, he fought them, and won. At the age of 30, Josh enrolled in the University of Toledo and by age 35 he graduated from the University of Toledo Law School and began practicing law.
In 2022, Josh decided to run for State Representative because he experienced first-hand the barriers the government puts up that prevent people from escaping poverty. In the Ohio Statehouse, Josh has worked to improve the quality of life of Ohioans by attempting to remove these barriers and also protect the most vulnerable among us.
In addition to practicing law and serving as State Representative for Ohio’s 41st House District, Josh continues to help shape America in the classroom. Josh currently teaches Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law at Adrian College in their undergraduate criminal justice program.
Josh and his wife, Neaira, currently reside in Sylvania Twp., Ohio.
